Thoroughly adopted candidate!

Well, now I feel like I have been well and truly adopted after my “Candidate Adoption Night” on Saturday. We had a simple ceilidh (can’t really be beaten for bringing folk together) and the atmosphere was wonderful. The band was made up of members and they played all the favourites along with some Burns songs (this is Burns Country after all).

Like any party, the organiser (Tracy Wallace) and I were fretting over whether people would come, would there be enough food etc. etc. Then on the night they all piled in and more tables had to be added. I was piped in like someone out of a US presidential convention – OTT but really fun!

After my musings we had speeches from Joan McAlpine MSP, Alex Neil MSP and Jeane Freeman, co-founder of Women for Independence.  The MC, Chic Brodie MSP produced a letter from Alex Salmond to finish things off. All of which had me blushing (and my Mum beaming).

I have now been welcomed and adopted into the family of our local SNP members and am sure they will be working side by side with me to win this seat and send me south to Westminster in May. Come and join me out canvassing in the coming week.

Thank you to everyone who helped organise the evening, play music at it or ply us with food and drink.

Take care,

Philippa
